The Frog in My Throat

At least once a day, I get this awful feeling.  Usually it's about something small -- sending an awkward email; a phone call I'm procrastinating about;  a belated thank-you note; some other tiny nonsense.

What should be a tiny pause of awkwardness, quickly surmounted, can grow so large.  Sometimes it's so big, it's difficult to move -- as if I've been eaten alive.

How did that frog get so big? Perhaps it's not a frog at all...
